Elize’s short film ‘Smile’ – see the trailer now

Elize spent some time at the end of last year filming a short film called ‘Smile’ for film-maker Cristian Solimeno – and you can now view the trailer for the film on Facebook. The short stars Elize, Paul Langton and Solimeno himself, and tells the story of Bonzo the clown, whose world falls down around him when he finds out his wife is leaving him.

The official Facebook page of the movie also features some lovely behind-the-scenes photos as well as other information about the film. There is also an official website to be found at http://shortsmile.com/, though the trailer is best viewed over on Facebook. Be sure to click ‘Like’ to find out more about when you can view the full thing this year…

Homeland now available via NetFlix

I received good news from Homeland director Christopher Young recently – namely that his brilliant film ‘Homeland’, starring our own Elize du Toit, is now available to rent via NetFlix. If you’re already signed up to the rental service, you can add Homeland to your wishlist here. If not, I highly recommend signing up (especially as they offer a 1-month free trial…!) and bagging yourself a copy of the movie to watch. It’s utterly brilliant, and Elize puts in a superb performance – very unlike anything you will have seen Elize do before…

Here’s how Christopher Young describes the movie himself:

“HomeLand, my film that explores the concept and reality of where we find ourselves in the character of a Marine who returns from Iraq with nowhere to go (and, tangentially the ill-conceived team-Bush moniker…).”

Elize on Sky Sport’s “Total Rugby”

According to posts on the IRBTotalRugby Twitter account, Elize has been doing some voiceover work for Sky’s “Total Rugby” show recently – currently showing on Saturdays on Sky Sports 1…

I’m trying to get a clip for the site, but in the meantime – and if you weren’t aware that Elize used her silky tones for voiceover work – you can listen to some of Elize’s other work on the Mouth 2 Mouth website…

Material Girl premiering this week

It’s been a long wait to finally see this one, but the BBC are finally showing the new Dervla Kirwan fashion show “Material Girl” this week (Thursday, 20:00) – and as regular visitors will know, Elize is the guest star in the very first episode. If you head over to the BBC micro-site for the show, you can see a clip from the episode, featuring our very own Elize towards the second half.

Being the first episode you can probably expect most of the plot to revolve around setting up the characters, but Elize has a fairly crucial role, playing a star who the team have to dress for Paris fashion week. The official synopsis from the BBC site is:

“It’s Paris Fashion Week and Ali Redcliffe has a huge flare-up with her boss, leading fashion designer, Davina Bailey. Back in London, the renowned Marco Keriliak offers Ali the chance of a lifetime: to set up her own label. But her friends all tell her he’s a nightmare. Probably not the ideal time to take a chance on love with new man Chris.”

Elize’s ‘Infidel’ wins at Raindance

A few weeks ago we told you about how a short film Elize starred in (‘Infidel’, part of the ‘Sins of London’ short film series) was nominated at the Raindance film awards. Well, the great news is that film won “Best UK Short” at the festival!

The official site for the project has also recently been launched, where you can see clips of Infidel amongst the other two shorts – http://sinsoflondon.com/film-info/infidel/ and there’s a Facebook fan page for it too, though admittedly it doesn’t have a lot on!

Congratulations to Elize and all the team behind the film – you can catch it for yourself at various short film festivals around the country, and with a Raindance win under their belt, it’s sure to get a DVD release soon enough.

Elize’s “Infidel” nominated at the Raindance awards

Regular site visitors will know that Elize recently filmed a short film called ‘Infidel’ as part of a trio of films set in the capital, collectively called “Sins of London”. Elize’s segment, entitled ‘Infidel’ has been very well received by the critics, and it’s now been nominated for a Raindance award in the UK short film category!

You cam visit the 17th Annual Raindance site to find out what films it’s up against, but I’m sure you’ll agree it would be really great if Elize’s film won.

Following on from the now-famous shots in the silvery dress, these shots are also taken during filming for the “Material Girl” episode – but thankfully Elize’s character seems to have been given a slightly less garing dress to wear by this point. “In Your Dreams” – Elize clips

They were both added by Director Gary Sinyor himself, and both give a good idea of the sort of comedy you can expect from ‘In Your Dreams’ when it is released on DVD in February…
