main_press_hot270702.jpgHollyoaks star Elize du Toit says her South African constitution keeps her healthy, but she still has plenty of beauty tips for us pasty brits.

It’s no wonder that Elize du Toit beat 40,000 hopefuls to the role of sexy, posh Izzy Cornwell in the teen soap Hollyoaks, despite the fact that when she went to the audition she wasn’t even sure she wanted the part. The South African – who moved to England with her family seven years ago – has a great figure, lovely, bronzed skin and bags of charm and confidence. Two years on, the 22-year-old is please she gave up her university course to pursue and acting career.

As for the rumours she’s planning to leave the soap for Hollywood, Elize insists this is news to her and that she is still very happy with the way her life is going.

And so she should be: She’s just bought a flat , she’s got a great career and a handsome boyfriend who, in true Hollyoaks tradition, she met on set. Ben Hull left the soap last year but his new role as Dr Gary Parr in Brookside means the couple can still see each other as the shows are filmed at the same Merseyside studios.

She is clearly living a charmed life, but surely Elize has some other tricks up her sleeve to keep her looking so great.

Hot stars persuaded her to reveal some of her beauty and fashion secrets…

What beauty products do you swear by?

I always wear a clinique concealer. Also, you rarely find me without my bronzer, blusher, mascara and lip gloss. It may seem like a lot of make-up but the result is a very natural look.

What is your top beauty tip?

Plenty of sleep. Other than that I think having confidence and good hair are important. Everyone needs a hairdresser they trust.

What perfume do you wear?

I wear Escape by Calvin Klein and Chanel’s Allure. My boyfriend Ben has just given me a new perfume called Truth by Calvin Klein, which I really like – it’s light and fresh, so I think it’s going to be my summer perfume. I’m also a big fan of CK One.

Do you do much exercise?

I don’t really have much time, although I try to fit it in when I can. I’m a member of a gym and use the exercise bike for about 40 minutes. But it’s difficult when I’ve been working long hours as the last thing I want to do is go to the gym.

Are you generally quite a healthy person?

Yes, I’m really lucky – I’m just one of those people who never gets ill. I’ve been working on Hollyoaks for almost two years now and I’ve never had a day off sick – it must be my strong South African constitution!

Who’s you favourite fashion designer?

I always seem to wear little black dresses by Celine. I also like Nicole Farhi and Joseph for the sheer simplicity. At the opposite end of the scale, I like Vivienne Westwood because her clothes can be outrageous.

What’s the most expensive item in your wardrobe?

I’ve got a Joseph winter coat that was over £500. I’ve also got a Celine dress that cost about £500.

What’s your favourite high street shop?

My favourites are Gap and Zara.

Which other women do you think are beautiful?

I think french actresses are really attractive. I like Emmanuelle Beart, Bridget Bardot – when she was younger of course – and Juliette Binoche. I think J.Lo is stunning and Gwyneth Paltrow is really elegant.

Do you eat well?

I try to. I really like chocolates and ice-cream but I’ve never been into microwave food or ready-made meals, although I sometimes eat pizza, curry and take-away meals.

Do you diet?

No, I’ve never been on a diet. I think dieting starts a really unhealthy cycle of getting skinny and fat and skinny and fat. I’d rather just try to keep a steady weight and be healthy.

Is there any part of your body you’d like to change?

I don’t like drawing attention to my bad parts because then people notice them more! I’d really like to have a washboard stomach.

Would you like to have cosmetic surgery?

I don’t think so. I think you are who you are and it’s a shame to change.
